K THROUGH 11TH GRADE


Abramson Science & Technology is serving 350 students from kindergarten through eleventh grade. Abramson employs 50 staff members, many of whom have advanced academic degrees. The staff is continually advancing their teaching skills so we are all in compliance with the Federal Government’s “No Child Left Behind” (NCLB) Program and the new Louisiana academic standards. Additionally, our school continually assesses our teachers’ competencies and participate in the appropriate staff development and educational effectiveness programs.


Abramson Science & Technology Elementary School’s curriculum emphasizes reading and mathematics. There are also excellent programs in science, social studies and language arts. Accelerated Reader, DIBELS, and Voyager help to improve English and Math Skills Students are assigned homerooms at each grade level. Various combinations of teaching exist including cooperative learning, departmentalization, team teaching, and cross-curricular teaching.


Supplementing the classroom teachers are a special education staff consisting of: Adaptive P.E., Title I (additional help for reading and mathematics), EBD, MMMI, ESL, Hearing Impaired, and Low Incident, SLD, and Speech services.


Abramson Science & Technology tracks all students periodically throughout the school year by using practice LEAP/ iLEAP and the Accelerated Reader reading test to gage student progress. According to students’ performance on these tests, Abramson offers Saturday School, after school tutoring and home tutoring to improve their knowledge to pass the state tests.


Abramson Science & Technology is college preparatory school. Abramson provides a variety of courses to help students to prepare for college. ACT,, SAT and GEE courses are offered to assist students with preparation for higher learning.


The high school and middle school curriculum includes a range of regular education, special education and extra-curricular activities to meet Louisiana state requirements, the needs of the New Orleans community, and to prepare students for post-secondary pursuits. Regular education include courses in English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, as well as electives that include art, computer science, health, industrial technology, physical education, and world languages (Spanish & Turkish). In addition to that, Abramson offers AP and Honor courses for students who are in need of an academic challenge.


Extra-curricular offerings for boys include basketball, art, soccer, and football. In addition, girls are offered programs in cheerleading, dance team, basketball, and art. Furthermore, students are
involved in academic clubs that include Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, Math Teams, Science Fair, Science Olympiad, Robotics Competition, and Student Council.
